I hope all you wonderful mothers had a great Mother's Day. Ours was splendid. Little Miss A made me feel like the coolest, most loved mother on the planet. She gave me drawings and letters she had been quietly collecting under her bed, in addition to an abundance of the most delicious hugs and kisses in the world. My daughter loves coming up with fun and exciting plans. I indulge her whenever I can because I feel that being able to actually experience those moments that she first concocts in her imagination will arm her with with everlasting ingenuity throughout her lifetime. On her special mother-daughter-day agenda was to bake a cake and then eat it while we soaked in an obscene amount of bubbles. Cake and bubbles with my favorite girl? Twist my arm- I obliged. We made this Miette tomboy chocolate cake.

How quickly good things come to an end! I hope you all had beautiful celebrations yesterday. Our was really lovely. We had tons of champagne and wine and the food was amazing. Every single dish was divine. And the best part was being surrounded by loved ones. This was our Thanksgiving table. I grabbed some olive branches from our tree and spray painted them gold to fill in the table since we were using place-mats instead of a tablecloth. The turkey place cards added an element of fun. My camera's battery died so I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked.
It was my husband's birthday this weekend. And he loves cakes and chocolate. So I outdid myself. At least I feel like I did with this 14 layer (yes, count them!) chocolate cake. I followed this recipe here from Bakerella. It took a while but it was a hit. Beware it has a lot of butter and powdered sugar...but you only celebrate one birthday a year!!
I found an amazingly delicious flourless chocolate cake recipe. Its easy and tastes so sophisticated. My friends last weekend raved about it and wanted the recipe asap. Give it a try. The recipe is from here.
And here I am playing with my new 50 mm lens. Do you have any good chocolate cake recipes you'd like to share? Please!!
