I adore statement earrings when I go out- for dinners, nights out, parties.....but when it comes to my day-to day earrings I'm a pearls kind of a girl. I may occasionally switch them out here and there but 98% of the time if you see me during the day I will be wearing my simple pearls. Predictable I know but somehow I feel that they brighten up my face and that I look prettier. A few months ago I spotted these amazing pearl earrings on one of Dallas' chicest Ladies, Merry Vose. I had to ask- where are your earrings from? Christian Dior. Little did I know they would become my new obsession. I have never seen earrings that are both classic and edgy at the same time. How can that be? They are not terribly expensive (If I remember correctly around $300), they are light and come in so many color combinations there is one that will suit you perfectly. I can't tell you how cool I feel when I wear my Christian Dior pearls? VERY. I love being able to be both modern and classic. I feel ahead of the fashion curve for sure with these.
Happy Friday friends! Wao, lately it feels like such an accomplishment to get to Friday. Well, it's my husband's birthday this weekend which means we get to have some cake. I'm debating which cake to make for him. It won't be chocolate. We have made too many chocolate ones in the last few weeks (I know that chocolate cake is misleading up there, but it is pretty right?) He loves this lemon olive oil cake that I have made for him many times before and has very quickly devoured, but he also loves this almond cake which I have never made him and would love to try. I will let you know next week which one I chose. (oh and I want to get him one or two of these for on top of his desk).
I spotted these cute purple Repetto ballerinas at No. 1/Le Jus the other day and fell instantly in love with them. What a great color I thought to myself- so vibrant and happy. The next thought that crossed my mind was, but what would I wear them with? I don't exactly have many purple items in my closet so the best solution I could come up with was to match the shoes to some statement earrings (this would work just as well with a necklace or a bracelet). You could have some dramatic earrings with purple and then the purple shoes below .... and wear whatever you want in between- like jeans and a white t-shirt. The simpler the outfit, the better. This is a pretty neat trick. It doesn't really matter what you wear, because the highlight of the outfit consists of the colorful shoes and the earrings.
With temperatures increasing, trees budding, and birds chirping you can tell Spring is in the air. And for me this means brighter colors. So today, I have rounded up a few of my favorite things with touches of turquoise. I need to start with these bracelets. My mom, who has the best taste ever, scouted these in a local magazine. Neither of us could stop drooling over them. These spectacular bracelets are covered with stingray shagreen and are simply decadently luxurious. The end caps are interchangeable and they come in different colors. Oh my!!
I'm really excited about this gift guide for you all today. I scoured the web high and low for some unique items. Some I have been coveting from afar for a while (like the red and pink scarf ( No. 11) and the YSL ring (No. 9)- my friend owns 2!), some were recent finds like both tops that just seem like the chicest most wearable things ever, and some I actually own like the Swarovski crystal bracelet (some cute friends gave it to me for my birthday)......this guide is for your sister, your mama, your friend, your aunt.... even yourself!!
I'm in love with Spring's beautiful acrylic resin earrings. I love the size, the color combinations, and their geometric shapes. They can pretty much make the outfit. You can easily wear a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt...add the earrings and you are cute to go.
My mom used to have the best collection of earrings in the 80's....you know those huge ones. When they went out of style she gave them all away except a couple that I inherited. And let me tell you- I wear them all the time! Things always, somehow come back in style.
Marni has an especially beautiful collection this time around. If you aren't sure if these earrings are you but want to give them a whirl the pink and yellow earrings (#3) are cheap (under $10).
