Hey my beautiful friends- do you all know what is in all your beauty products? You all have heard me talk about natural beauty products before (like my friend's magnificent skin care line Tata Harper which I blogged about here and here). Well, yesterday I had the privilege of learning about a new skin care line called Beautycounter that uses only nontoxic ingredients. I was so excited to learn about this new line directly from the founder, Gregg Renfrew, (don't be fooled by the name she is a woman!) I was in awe with this force of a woman and her powerful vision for the future of the skincare industry. What was alarming to me were some interesting facts about the FDA. For example, did you know that the European union has banned 1,300 ingredients from being used in cosmetics because their effects on humans are not quite known? And how many do you think the United States has banned? I would have thought maybe 300? Well, its actually 11. Yes, be surprised and angry and realize that we all need to be aware of what is in the products we use for our daily routine.
For those of you regular readers you know about my love affair with grey lately (if you don't take a look at what kind of floors I'm lusting after here) so it will come as no surprise that I am also lusting after grey accessories for myself and my home. This draper cocktail table is really perfect for any corner of your home. Make it two and you have yourself the perfect coffee table pairing. The grey ostrich is just too good. And no matter the color palette of your home a smokey grey gourd lamp always blends right in. Loving its grey lampshade as well.
Last Friday I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a skincare workshop by Tata Harper at Neiman Marcus (Dallas). I have been using her products for the last couple of years and really swear by them. They are 100% natural and really deliver amazing results. My skin is hydrated and feels like no major wrinkles are setting in (or at least this is my hope!)
Kristen Erb from Neiman Marcus organized this fun event (Thank you!). We were seated in haute couture, which provided for a very exciting backdrop, and were treated to champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We learned a lot about skincare- how to take-off make-up, cleanse, dry, and hydrate. And after everyone's skin was glowing and refreshed there were a lot of converts which was exciting to witness.
