Have you seen photos of our old house? Well, it was filled with color to the top. I mean fuchsia curtains, light blue walls, green sofa.....and this was just the living room. I really loved how all the colors worked together and we enjoyed living in this space every single minute. But now, my home is definitely more muted. There is color, but I'm finding tranquility in mostly grays, whites and blacks. Black and white rooms are elegant, peaceful, simple and maybe even a bit sexy. Here are some fabulous pieces in black and white (the headboard is to die for!) that are sure to inspire you. What do you think?

I can never get tired of black and white. They are such a classic color combination yet these picks I'm presenting you with today are modern, daring and edgy with just a hint of classic. That sleek black and white kitchen is one of the most handsome spaces I have seen in a while. The dramatic marble veining combined with the sleek black cabinetry really make for a dream worthy space.

I'm excited that it's September. It marks the beginning of my favorite part of the year- the fall! I immediately start thinking of more neutral tones for the fall and winter. I'm currently craving the classic black and white combination. I could never grow tired it. But mostly, I'm just in love with all these beautiful items I'm writing about today...I mean...the black and gold stool? And did I mention the price is pretty fabulous as well? Of course, because its from Nate Berkus for Target. I will leave you to it....
Everything about this home is exciting. Pay close attention to the artwork, floors and lighting choices. Oh and it's in Paris. It really can't get any better, right?
Since Spring Break is around the corner for us and we will be going to warmer climates I have begun to see what outfits to bring along. Last summer I got this dress from ASOS (second from the left) and have yet to wear it. So it will come on this trip for sure. Isn't it cute, beachy, and feminine yet elegant all in one? I started browsing to see what other inexpensive cute things I could find and then fell in love with this skirt (they only have a few sizes left!). And what a skirt it is! Since black and white are my go-to travel colors I picked out my favorite pieces for you. Oh and I think most everything is under $75.
I am currently dreaming about a beautiful black and white Holiday theme. Aren't these inspirational images lovely?! We usually decorate the same way every year with a few changes from the precious year to make it exciting. It's nice to revisit with old decorations that marked a special year or that have been passed down from my parents and remind me of childhood years. But it is also nice to come up with new projects and ideas to commemorate the season. I especially love planning and executing a wonderful Christmas Eve tablescape that is always new and exciting.
This holiday season will be a bit challenging though as we are scheduled to move right before or right around Christmas time thus limiting the amount of decorations I can and want to put up this year in order to avoid all the unpacking, packing, repacking.... Even though the move is minor (we are just moving down the street) it is difficult because this is my favorite time of year and I love having sparkly lights all around and seeing gold bows and santas everywhere. As a compromise we ended up getting a miniature tree for my little one, but every time I see it out of the corner of my eye I think it fell over or something as I'm not used seeing such a tiny thing. So, alas, I will dream vicariously through images on pinterest and other blogs to get my holiday decorating fix. This time black and white are what have caught my attention-
Happy Friday sweet loves! We are thrilled its the weekend around here as we have family visiting so we have dinners, barbeques, and fun outings planned. Even though we are in the thick of summer I could not help but start thinking about Fall's more toned down black and white palettes. So, I gathered a pretty selection for you and some minor obsessions.
When I received an email from Moda Operandi and their huge sale I immediately logged on to see if certain things that I had been coveting from afar had a more attractive-to-me price. And yes, there were (are) many beautiful things on super sale, especially a lot of precious shoes. But God forbid you thought about the purchase for more than a few minutes because that coveted item would no longer be available. I am rarely an impulse shopper so at least a few minutes of analysys are always in order, but in this case, the few pairs of sandals that I may have purchased immediately sold out (phew! it was kind of a relief!) But alas, I did fall in love with this very practical and chic black and white dress. And it's still available if you can believe it! Its muted coloring made me think of a few paintings I had seen by Kerri Rosenthal. Wao! Her paintings are fabulous. Her abstract pieces are especially appealing to me. So I made this ideal pairing-
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The weather here was perfection- sunny but cool. And my mother's day was perfection as well. I was able to sleep in until 7:30 a.m. (whaaat??!!) and was awakened by the sweetest of girl kisses and a delicious breakfast that included toast with blueberry happy faces. Life doesn't get better than that! But it does! Later on we picked roses from the garden and ate this cake for dessert (which I keep telling you is a MUST). So, this morning I'm inspired by desk accessories and I wanted to start off the week with some black and white desk inspiration. If you missed my last desk accesories post see it here.
Do you know a rock band of the 80's called Foreigner? I hadn't heard of it but I guess they were well-known back then and still are, I guess. Well, they will be singing at my daughter's school fundraiser on Saturday. I'm looking forward to a different kind of a night-out. Not sure what I will be wearing but I'm thinking an edgy black and white outfit is in order- chic, elegant, understated, classic. Let's see what I come up with!
