I have some black and gold lighting goodness for you all today. Atelier de Troupe studio is based in California and they concentrate on familiar and timeless designs. I'm just loving all of their pieces. I love finding a company that feeds my lighting obsessions. Here are a few more and I promise the trip photos will be coming soon-
I have been a fan of Schoolhouse Electric and Supply Company for a while. I am really drawn to their nostalgic lighting reproductions from the turn of the century through the late 1940s. What I didn't know was that they recently expanded their product line to include many wonderful things that I thought you should all know about like the gold serving pieces above. We all have the trendy gold flatware....but I was stumped as to where I could get myself some serving pieces to go with my set- Why Schoolhouse Electric, of course.
Just some fabulous lighting to start your week off right. These beautiful designs are by artist Rosie Li, a 25 year old Rhode Island School of Design graduate. Her designs are impressive and fall under that mid-century modernist influence that I'm so attracted to. (other favorites that I have blogged about- Roll and Hill and Adelman). There is a whole movement of lighting crafters moving toward simpler lines that still make a statement. Chandeliers are getting sexier in my opinion.
I learned about Roll and Hill, a lighting studio based in Brooklyn, this weekend and just fell in love with their pieces. If you have been reading this blog for a while you know lighting is one of my favorite things ( as evidenced here, here, here and here to name a few). I even made my own chandelier this one time and my husband made several lamps. With this lighting obsession you can imagine how excited I was to learn about Roll & Hill and how they collaborate with
current independent designers to create a unique collection of lighting pieces. Their pieces are basically made-to-order so they are able to customize each piece to meet their client's needs. They are stunning.
Happy Friday! Whoa, what a hectic week in a very good way. I feel like it was crazy but so productive. I adore lighting. It is one of my most favorite things to admire. If you remember I built the Lindsey Adelman DIY design, which I'm in love with, just to have one of her designs in my home seeing as though none of her pieces are within my budget. Sometime ago I also came across this fabulous lighting designer in New York called Michelle James. Her designs are the perfect balance of modern and vintage. She handcrafts her pieces from vintage glass globes which she finds by scouring ebay and flea markets and combines them with more modern brass structures. Her pieces are truly one of a kind, no two are the same. Spectacular right? Here are more photos.
I'm in love with my new lamp. I love lamps with black shades and this one just hit the spot. I wanted something elegant and timeless yet contemporary for this little corner. Lighting is so important in our daily lives. I feel like if I have good lighting I'm more efficient and more energized, plus if the light source is beautiful (ie like my new lamp!) then my happiness factor increases. Its hard to explain, but beautiful lamps are something I have grown up with so I cannot have it any other way. I arranged this little vignette to highlight my newest addition inspired by this post. What do we think?
Happy Monday!! I trust all your weekends were fabulous. Mine really was so much fun. The combination of weddings and good friends really is special. But I am glad to be back home where the temperature is much warmer. So, to set you off right this Monday morning I want to share with you my latest lighting obsession.
Hi Beauties! As you all know my love affair with books and libraries in this blog I want to talk about using sconces in libraries. We had them in our first apartment right when we got married and I fell in love with the look. They are elegant and classic and brighten up any book shelf. Here I tried to find a variety of bookcases with different types of sconces. (I actually had a few more beautiful photos but I could not get their original sources. Its so difficult sometimes and I hate putting pinterest as my source).
My mom is the best scout for finding topic ideas for the blog. She rips out articles from newspapers, marks pages in magazines, sends me emails with links. She has a great eye. Way back in May she saved me a hardcopy of this article for me from the New York Times Style Magazine. I put it in my brainstorming pile and this morning I was reminded of it when I saw a spectacular chandelier over at Sketch42 from the same designer, Lindsey Adelman. I have to share these beauties with you. Yes, the are very expensive but really, really beautiful. Her work is organic and very different from you see around.
I wish I had a place for these. They are sooooo hip. The copper is very unexpected. Let's see some in action........
