Decadence by way of Chair- Philippe Hiquily

September 13, 2012

I discovered this chair recently and I cannot get it out of my mind.  Such decadence of shape and materials in a single object.  It is pure beauty.  It was designed by Philippe Hiquily a french sculptor born in 1925.  He began designing furniture in the 60s, and I'm so glad he did.  All his work has some erotic undertones- can't you tell?  they are sexy indeed.
Lucite and aluminum with black.  Lust!
What about this hot pink top?
Amazing side tables.
This piece is interesting.  It reminds me of something that would appear in the movie Beetlejuice.  I love the velvet paired with the brass.
And here is this piece in a room.
This Lamp! So sleek and feminine.
I was limited in the images I could find with his furniture, so excuse the size.  Here you can see the beauty of the brass chair in action and hot pink topped console table.  The curves in his designs are so alluring, sensual even.
This table is to die for.
And here is Lenny Kravitz' Paris living room with an Hiquily coffee table.  Perfection!

Did you know about Hiquily?  I'm so happy I do now!  I'm sure everything is really expensive but a girl can dream!  Is it for you?

  7. Never heard of him but thanks for sharing. Quite dramatic statement pieces. I love that coffee table (with the gold base) and gold lamp. But I'm not sure my booty could survive the harshness of those chairs! Great to look out at but not looking very comfy! Anywho, TGIF.
