Split Personality?
July 30, 2012
I see a room like this and I'm instantly drawn to it. I love its simplicity, the ambiance created, the black and white palette. Christian Liaigre's home in Paris' Left Bank is beautiful. Of course, the high ceilings, the spectacular moldings and the fact that the home was built by a Marquis in the 18th-century also helps. I'm attracted to the mix of the apartment's rococo bones with the minimalism and sparseness of the furniture. (photos are from here). I would move in here in two seconds.
So, I love this space, but you know what my living room looks like? There is a lot of color involved, including hot pink curtains. Ready for a complete contrast?

Personally, I like many kinds of distinct types of decor and could even easily live happily in them. Multiple personality? Perhaps. Or an adaptable aesthetic? I think so. What kind of interiors do you like?

Happy Monday!

I'm like you - I have a lot of color in my own home - in fact, I just posted my master bedroom. I also can appreciate and admire more edited spaces, too, but I didn't think I could be happy without being surrounded by beautiful color.

I agree....color maskes us happy and its cozier for sure
DeleteI absolutely love this!! I can see where your top images have influenced your personal style! I always feel like I have to have a cohesive design/style, buuut I'm thinking if I just get what I like then it will all fall into place sooner or later. What a great way to start the week =)
ReplyDeleteWow, never I thought I would like Fushia curtains, but these are really nice in the room
ReplyDeleteYour living room is amazing. I want to feature it, too! It's all absolutely gorgeous, but I'm particularly dying over the pink panels. I'm so happy to have seen this today!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy with the pink curtains. I think they are my favorite part.
Deletesometimes I think the same too! but I solved this duality decorating my usual home in a practical and austere way and my holidays retreat with a cozy and rustic deco.
ReplyDeleteyour living room look so chic!
I would love to see your home....I'm sure its so unique!
DeleteThe first room is utterly glamorous!

Oh my goodness! Your living room is soooo beautiful! LOVE those pops of color on the windows. Not sure I would be so brave to make such a statement, but this came together perfectly. I totally have a variety of styles that I like.
ReplyDeleteI love the use of color in these rooms!
ReplyDeleteI love how you can incorporate different styles, yet it is still all look perfectly done. I love those two first pictures. Yesterday I was sitting at my hairdresser and the place has a big chandelier. I was dreaming up a room with a modern twist and a big opulent old-fashioned chandelier.

the first two photos are not my home. They are of a very famous french interior and furniture designer. Just to clarify my living room is the colorful one in the bottom. :)
DeleteBoth room's picture are looking good, but your living room's picture is looking extraordinary, i like multicolor theme, and you have choose many colors for your room like dark pink curtain , yellow wall art and many others things have different color, very nice home decor.

Are you serious?! That is YOUR living room? WOW! You have got some serious talent! I am obsessed with your curtains, but I love every single thing going on in the entire room, from that amazing rug to your fabric choices to the art. I saw the first two photos and appreciated them, but then when I saw your living room (not yet realizing it was YOUR living room) it just reinforced my love for daring style. I am blown away if you can't tell... SO inspired! :)
