A Feminine Space
March 19, 2014
To me a feminine space is soft and romantic, the color palette is subdued and of course it should have a lot of pink. These spaces (above and below) are sweet while still maintaining strong character, which I like. Incorporating this type of soft hues is easy to do in artwork and accessories like pillows and throw blankets (ie this is the 'under the radar' way to add some femininity without causing too many disputes with husbands or boyfriends) .
Pink walls may be another story. They are bold and definitely not under the radar but wao they really make a statement. And the final touch in this room above are those red pillows. Pink and red is sure winning combination in my book. And I can't talk about pink and red without highlighting Miles Redd's famous living room which I'm sure you all know by heart. I just love it so much, you won't mind if I post it again.
That swing arm sconce with the pink lampshade kills me every time. How can a small detail like that add so much? Speaking of feminine spaces my friend Jennifer
from the Pink Pagoda is hosting an amazing giveaway where two people can
win a $500 certificate to Horchow. I entered right away of course with
this room design below. I had to include a pink sofa, because only in my dreams will I ever own one. This is why blogging is so much fun- I get to play make-believe most of the time. For more details on the giveaway visit The Pink Pagoda here.

I adore feminine spaces, and our home has touches of it (i.e.: pink) scattered throughout. But I went all out in my office, pink walls and all!
ReplyDeleteI love feminine bathrooms, and dressing areas. I would say that I mostly like lovely spaces. Not too girly, but touches of pretty. Great board.
ReplyDeleteOkay heading over there right now, I love Horchow, their pieces are just beautiful. And can I say my jaw dropped with that first image, stunning :) Striking the masculine/feminine balance is hard I never will forget the look of my fiance's face when I saw this beautiful purple and gold vintage lamp that I had to have, it scared him speechless!

I tend to decorate in feminine colors. I love golds, blues and prints. I am really wanting to add some polka dot wallpaper to the office nook. It doesn't go over too well with my man....
ReplyDeleteThank you SO MUCH for sharing the contest, Albertina! One of the things I'm enjoying the most is seeing all of the different ways that people interpret a "feminine" space. For me, it's not necessarily soft. It can be strong and bold with some pink and pretty! Your board is incredible!!
