File Under || Holiday Edition

December 22, 2016

Christmas is almost here!  What a wonderful time of year.  I love that when I walk into our library the fire is burning and that we have twinkly lights all around.  Little A's excitement about the season fills me with such joy and happiness. The anticipation is such an important part.  We have been enjoying our tree all month long and little by little have been adding presents around it.  We have also been been cleaning and organizing our home to start the New Year off with a BANG!  I have been backing up old files and installing a new computer, so this is the reason for my silence lately. Currently, I'm planning the menu and table for Christmas Eve....and boy do I have a dessert I'm dying to try (and will share below with you!).  I think you will enjoy these tips and finds-

FILE UNDER- DIVINE DESSERTS.  I really enjoy a good dessert and for Christmas Eve I always try and make something very special.  Last year I made a Devil's Food Cake with Meringue Icing from Lela Rose's Pret-A-Party book which was sensational.  We all loved it so much and I even included well wishes messages inside attached to a string for everyone to pull.  And this year I'm dying to try this chocolate ganache cake by Rose and Ivy Journal that looks like the perfect sweet end for a celebratory dinner- rich and comforting.

FILE UNDER- TABLESCAPE.  There is nothing that I love more than something that is both beautiful and practical. Enter this floral centerpiece with both 'faux' and real flowers made by the fabulous local florists Apples to Zinnias. I gathered inspiration from my friend's arrangement and had this one made with one of my all-time favorite flowers, magnolias.  The magnolias and hydrangeas are 'faux' (of amazing quality of course! all my friends thought they were real) and look stunning by themselves- a perfect arrangement for year round.  Then,  added tubes that hold water in between so I can add real flowers and change the look according to the occasion and season! Brilliant!  I added red roses for the perfect Holiday look.I'm sure your local florist can do something similar.

FILE UNDER- ENTERTAINING. If you are having guests over for the Holidays Elizabeth from Pretty Pink Tulips has some great tips to pamper your house guests and make the most of your time together.  I mean, nothing says we are thankful for your visit like adding a personalized stocking for your guests hung by the others. Read the post here.

FILE UNDER- HOLIDAY TRAVEL.  I adore spending Christmas at home, but this post on Christmas in Ireland at the Ashford Castle by You May Be Wandering has me thinking otherwise for next year.  This special three day celebration is highly coveted and with only 48 rooms you better make your reservations now. Oh and in Ireland Christmas is all about the kids, so they are the ones that are truly pampered (Lego butler anyone?). To learn more read the post here.

Wishing you and your families a warm, joyous and magnificent Holiday.  I'm truly grateful for all of you!!  Best wishes and sweet kisses and hugs.
