To me libraries are the soul of a home. We spend so much time in ours....reading, hanging out by the fire, napping, and most importantly, it seems like all major conversations happen in this room for us like major life decisions, plans for the future.....So I have a soft spot for libraries and in my heart I wish every room in our home could be a pseudo-library (nothing beats a dining room/library!!) But this would require A LOT of books. I'm sure my husband would be up for the task if we had built-ins everywhere he could find a way of filling them. Let's just say we recieve Amazon packages almost daily! You can see a peek into our library here. I love the grey lacquered bookshelves and so this library by Caitlin Wilson drew me in and just loved the rest of the house that goes with it! Her use of bold wallpaper is fabulous and plentiful, gotta love that! Take a look at the rest of this beauty-
I really enjoyed taking a peek at Claude Cecil Gurney, founder of de Gournay, a design house best known for its luxurious hand-crafted wallpapers founded over 30 eyars ago and thought you would to. I just adore their beautiful handpainted, bespoke wallpapers that are pure luxury and have the power to transform a wall into a feast for the senses. Mr. Gurney found a need in the market for high quality and bespoke wallpapers and founded the company upon the skills of Chinese artisans and painters. He was one of the first British entrepreneurs to work in China. de Gournay is the original french version of his Mr. Gurney's name. I thought the article had mispelled his name! Silly me.
I read the article because I was curious to see what wallpapers he had chosen from the many spectacular options to decorate his home. First, we begin in the Master bedroom with L'Eden wallpaper covering the bathroom and closet doors (Tres chic!!).
I have quite the thing for wallpaper and I have since I first moved to Dallas 7 years ago when wallpaper was just starting to make a come-back. I especially like bold and daring designs- kind of big impact and striking imagery. The prints are just so bold and fun lately. It really is entertaining to see the crazy themes designers' are coming up with. I'm a fan even if some are a little nutty....like this buggy one below (not for everyone, but how fun would it be in a powder room?)
I saw this bathroom on Pinterest and was immediately drawn to the splatter paint wallpaper. So fun right?! So many DIYs pop in my head with this splatter paint technique. How about splattering just a simple white table lamp shade to add some excitement? Easy and probably therapeutic to do. I will keep this one on the back burner. Happy Hump day friends! Oh and obsessed with the Oscar de La Renta dinnerware line!! and with this Biscuit Bedding.
The powder bathroom to me is one of the most important rooms in a home. It is the room where you can let lose and add adventurous and unexpected elements. The powder bath is where I always like to have an element of surprise. My previous powder bathroom had red/deep pink high-gloss walls and ceiling. Friends were quite shocked when they opened the door from the unassuming hallway to this little gem of a room. Now, I have high-gloss turquoise....also fun but not as dramatic. My next powder bath will be showing off its personality through its wallpaper for sure.
There are so many beautiful wallpaper options out there waiting to be used in creative ways.....I'm wondering what kind of a powder room personality would you have? Wallpaper is fun, adds drama, and can definitely make a statement.
I have been in love with this shot for a while. I love the Zoffany wallpaper so bold and busy with that pop of red from the Panton Chair. This look would look fantastic in any little color in your home. Here are a few ideas to get you started. All wallpapers in this post are from Lewis and Wood. They are classical yet very different and definitely make a statement. These were my favorites.
Do you like the bold wallpaper with a burst of color?
