This is an easy peasy lemon squeezy DIY- perfect to do with the kids, as a party favor, as a present for a sweet friend, really, the possibilities are endless. You all know I love bright things and this little box just makes me so happy. I specifically made it for a friend to cheer her up. Here are the details:
Finally! Moving day is TODAY! By the photos you would almost think I am sipping champagne and prancing around in high heels right? Well, it's exactly the opposite- I'm sweaty and dusty and very likely smelly too. But I had to indulge in the idea, at least for five minutes) that moving could be perfectly civilized and glamorous. I'm a mix of all sorts of stressed, excited, anxious and overwhelmed. My arms and back are achy, my mind is going a million miles a minute with the long list of to-dos and I have my fingers crossed for everything to go smoothly. I tried to find some cute 'moving day' photos on pinterest and the web but was immensely disappointed. The photos were boring and ordinary and I needed 'uplifting' and 'pretty' so I had to make my own reality and stage them for you. It was a five minute stage but it is better than the alternative (who wants to see piles of boxes and garbage bags?). Since I haven't gotten around to packing my closet I pulled one of my favorite dresses. This one I wore to my rehearsal dinner and to my dad's 70th birthday. I have the best memories of both nights, so I decided to add some glamour to the otherwise odious and traumatic moving day experience.
Happy Friday! We have a family wedding this weekend so it will be nice seeing family and friends. And guess who gets to be a flower girl? You can bet Little Miss A. is the most excited little girl ever. Today, I have for you easy-to-make Jeff Koons inspired boxes. So easy! This little pup is actually a Target Christmas ornament! Can you believe it? They don't have them online but I'm pretty sure you can find if you visit your Target nearest you asap.
Let me tell you about this project. We have this painting in our bedroom that just keeps growing on me (I painted it BTW). I didn't love it at first but as the years go by I'm loving it more and more. I wanted to change things up beneath it and had the idea of adding some colorful boxes. Over the summer I found the cutest little dog doorknocker at an antique store and decided it would be ideal to decorate a box. Then, the idea of using embellished buttons for the other boxes came to me (I just had the lady at the button store clip off the ring in the back)- and so my collection grew to three DIY boxes that perfectly accentuate the colors of my painting. And they are so easy to make. You just need the right box, the right decoration, and the right glue. I have some ideas for you below.
I'm in love with my new lamp. I love lamps with black shades and this one just hit the spot. I wanted something elegant and timeless yet contemporary for this little corner. Lighting is so important in our daily lives. I feel like if I have good lighting I'm more efficient and more energized, plus if the light source is beautiful (ie like my new lamp!) then my happiness factor increases. Its hard to explain, but beautiful lamps are something I have grown up with so I cannot have it any other way. I arranged this little vignette to highlight my newest addition inspired by this post. What do we think?
