While in NY || Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse

May 28, 2013

How was your weekend?  I hope it was as perfect as you envisioned it while you were planning (isn't this the ultimate test?)  I'm so glad to be back home.  New York was fabulous and really I'm having withdrawal symptoms already so I hope to plan a trip back soon.  So while I was there and in the middle of a terrible rainstorm I managed to stop by the Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse.  The last few years I have been reading about it, so it was fun to finally go and see the different styles as each room is decorated by a different design firm.   I pulled here some of my favorite shots-
And this dining room was my favorite room.  It doesn't photograph well (the wall color is not quite right in this photo....nor is the ceiling).  And you can barely see the chandelier that was really a work of art in itself around an old piece of drift wood.  I got to briefly chat with the designer was Kristin McGinnis who was so humble and sweet.  Her inspiration was the art as she usually works with art collectors.

and some other rooms-

My favorite things about it- well they had plenty of high gloss walls and ceilings (and you all know how much I love them) So I was happy to see the trend is still going strong.  Also, the art was so fabulous- Wao! the pieces selected really were stunning each in their own way.  I was happy I went, especially to see that fish Fornasetti wallpaper (its even better in person and so cozy!).
