Summer Snapshots || Spain
July 19, 2013
Happy Friday!! I finally downloaded the photos from our trip. It was so difficult to chose which ones to share with you from the many beautiful shots (I took close to a thousand). Here is a sampling of what our days looked like in Spain. We pretty much do similar things year-in and year-out (here are the photos from other trips, here, here, and here) so it has been interesting as an amateur photographer to try and capture the same place in a different light or from a different angle. I tried to pick photos that were not too repetitive or boring. Let me know how I did! Please!
We spent two weeks in Malaga (one of the oldest cities in the world!), where my husband's family lives. Our days here are filled with large family luncheons and dinners, day trips to the beach, pool days at the club with cousins, visits to museums like the Thyssen (where my daughter's favorite painting is) and the Museo Picasso (BTW, did you know Picasso was born in Malaga?), outings to eat artisanal ice creams (Heladeria Casa Mira) and churros con chocolate and of course a little shopping as well (I got these! in love!).
While in Malaga, we did some short trips to Ronda perched on The Tajo canyon. And I finally visited La Alhambra, which was breathtaking. I absolutely loved it. Then, in Madrid we love visiting the Royal Palace (because you never know when you might run into a real life princess!) and then eating more churros con chocolate. As well as doing our rounds in the museums like Thyssen, EL Prado, where we make it a point to always see our two favorite paintings there Las Meninas and The Garden of Earthly Delights which we find mesmerizing, and of course we never miss the Reina Sofia museum. While in Madrid we take advantage and do some short day trips. We love Segovia (where the aqueduct in the photo above is) and La Granja which has an amazing palace where the Kings used to escape during the summer months. It has some beautiful gardens fashioned under the French style).
What can I say, we are blessed to have such beautiful families in both sides of the Atlantic and to be able to experience such richness in culture. My favorite part? Spending time with my daughter and husband as well with extended family and being aesthetically pampered everyday with such architecture and natural beauty. Oh and the belly thanks me as well. What are your favorite parts about your trips?

Blew me away this morning lady! What stunning pics. I honestly kept scrolling back and forth trying to imagine myself there. Three weeks to explore so many places, museums et al is a dream. You are blessed lady. So loved the photo of you and Little Ms. A in the matching tops. So precious. Thanks for giving us such a great collage of an amazing part of the world. I thought Paris was everything but I'll definitely have to visit Spain next.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous shots Albertina! Looking at them, I feel like I've had a little escape myself this morning. Those are the kinds of vacations that leave indelible impressions- no doubt your daughter will always recall those times with family fondly. My favorite shot- the one with the wind turbines. Love the perspective and contrast in colors with that one. Oh the things you could teach me with a camera! Welcome back home.
