One Room Challenge || Week 5 - Accessories
October 29, 2014
Will you believe me if I told you my closet is done!! Well it is, and I could not be more in love with it. But, since I can't show you it quite yet I will be sharing with you some accessories I used. If you are new and
don't know what the One Room Challenge is it was started by Linda from Calling it Home some years ago. In this challenge she lines up twenty talented interior designers and professional
bloggers to redo a room in their home in just six weeks- we update you once a week on
Wednesdays. And today is Wednesday! (in case you missed them here are this round's previous posts- one, two, three, four).
To
refresh your memory I am doing my walk-in closet. Today I will be sharing with you all some of the fun accessories (pictured above) I used to make this space the little escape I needed.
1, 2, 3 || This pretty storage bin looks so pretty on my shelves and hides all my collection of shoe bags which I love keeping for when I travel (does anyone else love hoarding them like me?). It is from Jayes Studio. I really love, love everything they have. Years ago, before my daughter was born I bought this wastebasket for her room and to this day it is still one of my favorite things. So, I was really excited when I learned that Jayes Studio would be a One Room Challenge sponsor. What a treat! I also ordered this little tray and this cute pink leopard trinket tray which my daughter wants immediately for her room after this is over.
4 || I also ordered a python tray to display my perfumes.
5 || And this amazing gold faux shell from Adriana Hoyos is such a beauty in person. It is so dramatic and is ideal for displaying my fun jewelry instead of hiding it away in the drawers. This way I don't forget what I have and will actually wear everything more! It is not in the Adriana Hoyos website but you can order it by calling them. The scale is fabulous and it looks so rich in the space.
6, 7, 8 || I had been wanting some blue and white ginger jars since forever. I decided this was the perfect project to contact Jennifer from The Pink Pagoda who is the blue and white master with such an amazing inventory of blue and white jars to chose from. She had a sample sale for locals, so I just had to take advantage of this rare opportunity. Originally, I had envisioned them for my daughter's room, but then I remembered this room by Kirsten Kelli, which I had spotted over at Jennifer's blog this summer.
and thought my closet could use these beautiful pieces, they would look incredible with lilac nearby. Such a good decision! Lilac walls with blue and white jars equals PERFECTION!!
I did a couple of easy DIY's for this project. I wanted to take advantage of all the paint samples I bought when I could not find the right color for my walls so I decided to paint some shoe-boxes with them to use as pretty storage for my shelves. I love the look of the varying shades or purples and lavenders. Oh and if you like that pom pom hat see the DIY here.
I also DIYd and saved on the small mirror I wanted in what I'm calling my vanity area. I bought a wooden mirror at Home Goods and painted it purple (again with one of my samples!) and used a gold leafing pen for the border and decoration. I was worried whether it would come out tacky.....but I really love it. Maybe it is kind of tacky....but it looks kind of perfect in between my shelves.
And here are a couple of shots with one of my jars from The Pink Pagoda.....gaaahhh!! so pretty! If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw it yesterday. But that jar and those roses really prettied up my feed yesterday no? I'm obsessed with my jars and now wonder how I lived on these years without owning any. Not sure!!
Oh and the cute side table is from LampsPlus
who is a sponsor of this challenge. It is two-tiered which is perfect
for extra accessories. You can never have too much storage, especially in a closet. I
would have never guessed LampsPlus had such a great selection of pieces not at all related to lighting! It is so cute in person.
I love Instagram! Elizabeth from The Little Black Door posted these amazing sconces during one of her vintage shopping escapades. I emailed her right away because they needed to be in my closet. She gave me the stores info and so I bought them over the phone. It's so nice to have such sweet blogger friends. Follow Elizabeth on Instagram here for beautiful inspiration.
These sconces are now flanking my amazing painting from The Pink Pagoda by Reagan Geschardt (read more about my art selections here), which is really 'la pièce de résistance' of this project or the star of the show.
I'm holding my breath until next week. I hope you all like my closet, the photos, the styling...it's a lot of pressure. If anyone is ever in Dallas, you are invited to come have some champagne with me in here! yeay!
