I love Gaby from The Vault Files. Not only is she the sweetest, but she also has a great eye for picking the next cool trend before it is even one. I love her styling tips and she always scouts the best products and pieces. Plus, she also makes beautiful jewelry (here). Can we say multi-talented? I emailed her one day because I was intrigued by all this beauty she showcases daily and by her lifestyle as she was living on a remote island at the time. After some email exchanges we realized we were actually from the same country! Small world! So, of course this cemented my love for Gaby and The Vault files and is now and has been a daily must read for me (as in I don't leave my house without reading her blog first).
I have been saving many DIY art ideas in my pinterest (you can follow me here ) and as I was looking through them I thought why not share them with all of you. They are all pretty easy and if done well can look quite amazing and interesting with the added bonus that once praised by your friends you can state that you are in fact the artist! The way I see it DIY art is not only fun but rewarding.
I have from time to time posted about 'kid' things. But only about something that I really love
or something that has caught my attention. This is the reason I'm
posting about bows today. As many of you know I have a five year old
girl who is as girly as can be. And one thing she can never pass up on
is wearing a headband or a bow, and even sometimes both at the same time!
(don't judge!). She has quite the selection of bows, from the wide silk ones we get from Spain to clip-ons. Some of her favorites
ones are from a brand called via cacao. They are sweet and pretty with a touch of bohemian spirit, perfect for a five-year-old. She styles her hair with them, she uses them to decorate her shoes, and even uses them on her dolls. They are quite beautiful on their own, like small pieces of art. So, on a specific day, I decided to photograph them as
I found them laying around the house.
Were the Oscar's fun? I can't wait to watch the highlights later on today and to see the dresses. I missed it!! Can you believe it? Blame it on my new obsession with Downton Abbey (I just finished season two and I could not stop until I did!). Ooohhh so good! I will rely on you to tell me your favorite dresses of the Oscars and any gossip.
Happy end to a wonderful week! I'm excited because my parents will be in town this week. I love it when they come. Its so much cozier to have them around and of course it makes Little A's life so much more complete to have her grandparents. We don't have anything exciting planned just many meals together be them at home or at restaurants. I have so many links for you today.....where to start? In no particular order....
Thank you all for your sweet comments yesterday. Your support and enthusiasm means the world to me. To continue with this wonderful week I am delighted to introduce you to Holly from Glamourmash this morning. Holly is one sweet, talented, and stylish lady. I love how her posts cover a wide variety of topics so she always keeps me entertained and on my toes. She shares with us her favorite things today. Here they are:
Oh happy, happy Wednesday friends!! I'm giddy today, very much so. Do you know whose couch this is? Roxy's from Society Social. And do you know whose pink peak pillow that is? Mine!!
Her new look book is out introducing the new sofa collection and boy are they are amazing. This girl is on fire. I love watching her because not only is she one of the most charming people I know, but she also has amazing style, and a heart of gold. Combine all this with hard work and enthusiasm and you have the successful and admirable Roxy. The new sofa collection is perfection. Bravo!!
This is such an exciting week. There are so many wonderful things happening around here. And one of them is my collaboration with Sam from The Peak of Tres Chic. Sam's blog is a daily must read for me as I love her sense of style and her work ethic. This girl makes everything seem so easy- studying, working and running such a succesful blog because she does it all with such flair. We will be gathering inspiration under a certain theme a couple of times a month and sharing it with you. Here is the lovely Sam-
Is it a long weekend for you? Yes? No? Maybe (depending on your actual productivity at work)? Well, for you today, hot off the press (or hot off the 'publish' button) the first installment of Affordable Adorations - things for you and your home that are affordable and cute at the same time. Fitting in with the theme for the day ' a touch of silver ' I have a pretty cool version of sputnik chandy, and its from a kid's company (way to go Land of Nod). Also, how practical and chic is this tray table?
I hope your Valentine's Day was as special as you! Ours was very low key but very sweet. I don't have much to say today but I did come across some interesting things around the web this week. So here are some links I think you will enjoy:
Happy Valentine's cuties! I hope you all have a wonderful day filled with love from friends and family. I got to celebrate a day early with a few of my close friends. There is nothing like good friends to uplift you and make you feel special. And this is exactly what these friends did for me yesterday. Here are a few shots that captured the moment. Not to worry about recipes I will add links at the bottom if any of them catch your eye.
Lately I can't stop thinking of kitchens that incorporate some black in them, like in the image above - spectacular. In a previous kitchen post I stated that I thought kitchens were getting sleeker and more glamorous....some people are adding fun dramatic pendants to their islands, some are adding mirrors....and quite a few people are adding black to achieve this look. And I have to say, I'm liking the results.
Let me introduce you to your new best friend - The Cleobella Mexicana Clutch. Its a cross between a wallet and a clutch. It combines the best of both into this rustic chic and colorful accessory. All the cool ladies in Dallas wear them in the Spring and Summer. One of my favorite stores here, Cabana, introduced me to them some years ago.
I was so excited to add this little colorful canvas from Birdaria to my guest bedroom this weekend. I won it in a giveaway hosted by one of my favorite interior design blogs, Marcus Design. I am a lucky girl. (Thanks Nancy and Birdaria!). Trust me I count my blessings every night. It looks kind of perfect here, don't you agree. As if it was meant to reside in this corner, no?
Happy Friday! I can't believe Valentine's Day is next week. Where does time go? I feel like it was 2012 just a few days ago. In fact, I'm still writing 2012 by mistake on checks...yikes!
Well, we have gone a bit DIY t-shirt happy over here. It all started with little Miss A. drawing a picture of two cats and saying she wanted that drawing to be on a t-shirt for her daddy for Valentine's. So, off I went to get t-shirt transfer paper. The final product is adorable. I think daddy will be very proud to wear his cat t-shirt with hearts for cheeks to the gym. ha! Out of that was born this t-shirt project. You can easily design your own. This is a very easy project but its BIG on immediate satisfaction, especially for kiddos. This is also a very practical DIY...you can do your own party favor t-shirts for your child's birthday party or make cute gifts for friends. The possibilities are endless.
It doesn't get much better than a perfect lacquered credenza. They work for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. Loving these two pieces at very different price points.
A little Valentine's Day gift guide in case you still needed some ideas for yourself, for a friend, for you mom, boyfriend, husband, child, niece......etc, etc, etc......I'm easy...I'm good with number three. Give me some chocolate and I am yours forever. Even if it is just Hershey's.
In love with this painting by Liza Hathaway which pairs so well with this monochromatic blush outfit. To tell you the truth I just got this shirt and these jeans and am DYING to wear them together. Pretty chic huh?
I'm so excited to bring you some inspiration from a beautiful friend's home. This is my second post in the new series I began called "Inspiration gathered and noted" (see first home tour here). This series, is basically a home tour where I will try and identify different sources of inspiration that
have caught my attention and that I would like to file away as lessons
learned for any future decorating or designing projects. I hope they will be inspirational to you as well.
I'm really excited today because my pagoda pillows are on Society Social. You all know about Roxy (I'm in total admiration of this sweet, hard working and beautiful lady), and her quest to bring back the bar cart....well my pagoda pillows are in her shop!! Aren't they precious!? The color combinations are so colorful and happy. See them here. They are the perfect partners in crime to my patterned pillows above which you can get here. These will also be making their way to Society Social soon. Yeay!!
