Now that summer is here I'm sure many of you have extended stay invitations to friend's homes, be it for weddings, for a long weekend, or for a quick jaunt to the mountains or beach. And I know you all want to be a special guest to these friends and surprise them with a unique and thoughtful but not too expensive gift. This gift should show your appreciation for such a formidable invitation. I have gathered a few fun ideas for you.
Sorry I missed you all yesterday! Apart from the millions of things I had to do to get ready for our trip today I got sick! So its been kind of hectic here. So, we are ready for our long flight this evening. In case you missed it we are going to Spain (starting off in Malaga). You can see some photos of our past trips here and here. I wanted to fill you in on the next few weeks.
Finally! We leave on Friday for our family trip to Spain where we will visit my husband's family. We go every year and we usually stay for three weeks. So fun, but when it comes to packing for this trip I kind of feel like I'm putting together a puzzle. For example, I make sure that if I take a skirt it has at least three different tops and a couple of pairs of shoes with which I can wear it with....that sort of thing. Then, I need to make sure I have clothes for when its too hot or for when its chillier than usual. And all this has to fit in one suitcase! Add to this the fact that I want to look cute every single day. This is where the practical packing guide comes in to help.
I hope your week is going well so far.... Phew! I have done so many things it feels like its Friday.....ha! and its only Tuesday. Well, I have here some cute pieces that would add character to any home. I discovered this online store called Apartment 48 and they have some fabulous home decor accessories, and furniture, and even kitchenware. It is a perfect store for gifts or for little touches to finish up a room. These four were my favorites. Let me tell you why-
Happy Father's day weekend!! I'm so excited I get to spend it with my dad this year. Sometimes we can make it work, but not always. So its extra special when we can spend Father's day together. Let me tell you a few things about my dad- like the image above says my dad is and has been my anchor. He makes me feel safe and protected and always adored. He is one of the gentlest and most tender souls I know. He is brilliant, courageous, and perseverant. And he has faced the most trying of times with grace, patience and humor.
A cute, elegant, summer and modern outfit inspired by this refreshing swimming scene by artist Monica Ramos. (The sandals are on sale!!) Minty fresh is the name of the game today.
I saw this bathroom on Pinterest and was immediately drawn to the splatter paint wallpaper. So fun right?! So many DIYs pop in my head with this splatter paint technique. How about splattering just a simple white table lamp shade to add some excitement? Easy and probably therapeutic to do. I will keep this one on the back burner. Happy Hump day friends! Oh and obsessed with the Oscar de La Renta dinnerware line!! and with this Biscuit Bedding.
This Mawi sparkly clutch has been living rent free in my mind for a while now. And since many times I sue this blog as therapy I can post it here in hopes that one of you get it and enjoy it. Its happy, lively, BEAUTIFUL, fun, and it can pretty much be the outfit itself. You don't need much else but I just loved these classic gold sandals. And because your home deserves the same amount of reflective quality I present to you this fabulous leaf pendant and this shiny cool throw pillow. Both are sexy and chic.
Happy Monday!! I hope all your weekends were fun and perfect. We had a sick little girl to take care which completely changed our weekend plans but it's ok since sick baby girl is almost always equal to cuddling with said baby girl 24/7. But it was an exciting Sunday evening because it was the premier of Season 8 of HGTV Star. And you know what makes it so exciting? Jesse from The Design Daredevil is a contestant. I have been following her blog for a while (it was introduced to me by Jessica from The Aestate) and love that I now get to know Jesse's personality through the show. This girl is cool- aside from having fabulous taste, and the best curls and nails in town, she is the sweetest! And so brave, obviously! It takes some courage to be in a reality TV show for sure, but the rewards are big. Help me root for her will ya?
Green is my favorite color- it's bright, happy, hopeful, and fresh. Before I started wearing contacts I used to wear bright green glass frames. So, I would style my outfits with other pops of green....green necklaces, flats, sweaters.....So now that I no longer wear glasses I don't wear as much green as I used to, but I love incorporating it in my home and think one of its best partners in crime is blue. These are just some green and blue things inspiring me lately -
When I received an email from Moda Operandi and their huge sale I immediately logged on to see if certain things that I had been coveting from afar had a more attractive-to-me price. And yes, there were (are) many beautiful things on super sale, especially a lot of precious shoes. But God forbid you thought about the purchase for more than a few minutes because that coveted item would no longer be available. I am rarely an impulse shopper so at least a few minutes of analysys are always in order, but in this case, the few pairs of sandals that I may have purchased immediately sold out (phew! it was kind of a relief!) But alas, I did fall in love with this very practical and chic black and white dress. And it's still available if you can believe it! Its muted coloring made me think of a few paintings I had seen by Kerri Rosenthal. Wao! Her paintings are fabulous. Her abstract pieces are especially appealing to me. So I made this ideal pairing-
Just a few months ago my globe-trotter uncle gave me fabulous t-shirt he got in his travels. I actually have a photo of it on Instagram here. He got it when he visited this Salvador Dali museum. I was intrigued by these lips- so extravagant and flamboyant, and really kind of sensual with a hint of scary as well. I had no idea Dali had designed any jewelry. So, I began to research a little to understand what these jewels were about. And a few days ago I came across this Lulu Frost ring. Hmmmm?? This seems familiar!
So excited to have the sixth edition of the "We Love" series. Here was the last post in the series in case you missed it. To refresh your memory Sam from The Peak of Tres Chic and I will be gathering inspiration under a certain theme a couple of times a month and sharing it with you. Sam will guest post here in my blog and I will post at Sam's. I guess you could say we are swapping for the day. This time around its all about SHINY things!!
Yesterday was heaven around here. It was sunny and cool and relaxing. I hope your weekend was great too). If you are a regular reader you know I love grey ( you'll remember when I talked about it here and here) and the more I think about the perfect color to combine it with is yellow. To me it;s a formula for elegance and simplicity. Here are some shots for inspiration-
