Today is One Room Challenge Day! If you are new and don't know what the One Room Challenge is it was started by Linda from Calling it Home
some years ago. In this challenge she lines up twenty talented interior designers and professional
bloggers to redo a room in their home in just six weeks- we update you once a week on
Wednesdays. And today is Wednesday and I'm decorating our family room. (In case you missed it here is last week's post where I talk about the accessories that will go in the room. Today, I want to
talk about a few things I have accomplished since last week. Let's start with my beautiful credenza that arrived yesterday! It is better than I envisioned!! It is ravishing and kind of just steals the show....is the rest of the room as elegant and exciting?
I had anxiously been awaiting photos of this home for a while. Nicole is again the photographer behind this amazing apartment designed by Sasha Bikoff. You may remember I blogged about Sasha's beautiful apartment here as captured through Nicole's lens. This apartment belongs to an Iranian pianist and ballerina who used to frequent Studio 54 (an exciting client indeed!). Sasha successfully draws inspiration from the luxury and drama of her client's exotic lifestyle evident in the choice of wall colors, the gilded pieces, the eye-catching pops of emerald green. You could almost think this place was in Paris. Oh and did I mention Sasha is only 25. She is one designer to watch. If she is doing this now imagine in a few years.

Happy Monday! I wanted to share with you this beautiful table-setting inspiration from Oscar de la Renta that stopped me on my tracks when I came across it last week. And the gold beetle is a paper weight! So clever. It looks so chic on top of the peony plate, which was especially designed by Oscar de la Renta for the The New York Botanical Garden. The peony print is from the Garden’s private collection of rare botanical books.
I'm so excited to share this gem of a book with you all today. Not only does it make the perfect Mother's day gift, but it would be fabulous addition to your coffee table book collection. Art and Sole is Jane Weitzman's first book which showcases 150 pairs of shoes that she has discovered or commissioned for display since the first Stuart Weitzman shop opened in NYC in the 60's. It is beautifully made with a linen cover, gold-edged pages, and features such inventive shoes. 100% of the profits of the sale of this book are donated to Ovarian and Breast Cancer research. Really, it is the all-around perfect gift for any shoe and art lover, and fashionista.

One of my favorite Interior Design blogs, Savvy Home, just launched a new shop, alongside her beautiful new website and blog. Gabrielle, the founder, has curated a lovely group of pieces to inaugurate the shop. The tray table and the three legged stool are so cute, nicely priced, and can easily go anywhere in your home to freshen it up. Savvy Home, which started out as a blog has grown to become so much more- an online decor destination providing inspiration,
shopping and decor services to other avid decorators. Gabrielle's
style is influenced by a love for the coastal lifestyle, mixed with the
tradition and comfort of American design. You should check it out here.

where I talk about the art that will go in the room. Today, I want to talk about the icing on the cake when it comes to designing a room - accessories! Here are some of the things that are making the cut.
I'm so excited to share these photos with you today. The designers behind this amazing home are my very talented friends Julie Lloyd and Clair Tompkins. They recently started Tompkins Lloyd Interiors and this is one of their latest projects, one which I had the privilege to photograph! So, of course I had to share it with you. These two ladies make quite a pair. Julie's taste is exquisite and timeless and Clair's aesthetic is edgier and more contemporary and they blend together to create chic, modern, rich and luxurious interiors. They also source the best vintage pieces around. I literally wanted every single piece of furniture in this home.
Children's parties for me are magical. I enjoy attending them with my little one. I love planning and executing little Miss A's small parties as well. I think I have the same amount of fun orchestrating the event as the kids attending it. They are an opportunity to bring fantasy to life. I think this is why I really enjoy seeing the fantasies that other people create for their kids. I
was fortunate enough to be invited to a sweet birthday a few weeks ago with every last detail planned and fussed over. When I asked who was to thank for
this beautiful experience it was Shana from Pomp Party- children's
parties planner extraordinaire. If you live in the Dallas area you need
to know about her. Her ideas and attention to detail really turn a
well-known fairy tail into a new and exciting adventure. Her portfolio is amazing. See more of her parties here.
[brass floor lamp | flamingo shakers | tassel necklace | gazelle bookends | marble tray | straw tote | the eggs are the cutest DIY by The Hunted Interior]
Happy Easter weekend! Does your ideal Easter basket look anything like mine? Just a few fun things to share with you all today. Someone please get that brass lamp. This marble tray is just too perfect for a vanity or bathroom counter top. The gazelle bookends are divine and the hot pink tassel necklace is a no-brainer at $28- cute and chic all rolled into one. And I think the flamingo salt and pepper shakers are so tacky and so cool that they might just find their way into our alfresco dining experiences on our porch and for $19 they make a perfect and fun hostess gift.
[ colored glasses | striped skirt | black and white tray | grosgrain ribbon flats | straw tote | tablesetting ]
Let's start with the pretty, pretty, pink and white skirt....aaaahhh...Spring! Perfect for Easter, garden parties, dinners out, or just because. Its like wearing candy. Cute and sweet. So, in love with it. And those cute pastel glasses I have to share with you because they are $35 for a set of four! Now that is such a deal for all of us who love our stemware and setting a pretty table in special occasions. I sure wish I had them for my Easter table. I'm having friends over and have begun thinking about the menu and the table decor. I'm so in love with that tablescape photograph by Tory Burch. She has the best dishes and tablecloth collection!

Wednesdays. And today is Wednesday! (in case you missed it here is last week's post where I talk about my plans for the credenza. It shold arrive on Friday. I'm just dying to see it. Today, I want to talk about art. I have three walls to decorate and all of the pieces above to play with.
Finally! You all remember back in September I posted about transforming my old Crate and Barrel armoire into a Bar'Moire (see old post here) since our new home was lacking such a space. I finally have a reveal for you and boy was it a fun one to both plan and make. It is very different from how I originally envisioned it but am so happy with it. I still might add a neon light somewhere. But here you go- (keep in mind it was difficult to photograph because of the angles and lighting.)
Everything about this home is exciting. Pay close attention to the artwork, floors and lighting choices. Oh and it's in Paris. It really can't get any better, right?
and arranged flowers and washed dishes. Happy Friday my sweet loves. It's Friday and it's warm. This makes me very happy. Some days ago I mentioned I would try this pearl DIY with my jeweler friend. So we did, and made some cute things: rings, bracelets and a necklace. DIYing with a friend is so much more fun than going at it solo. We laughed so much and gossiped- perfect girl time. We then did the usual...arranged flowers and washed the dishes...

We celebrated our anniversary last night. Yummy french food and champagne. It was fun, but it was a school night. Oh and yes, we did have champagne- Did I mention that? So, I will make it short and sweet today. Just some pretty blues and greens today to get you excited about all that outdoor time you will be enjoying soon.
A week goes by faster than you think! But I have made good progress with my family room. If you are new and don't know what the One Room Challenge is it was started by Linda from Calling it Home

Wednesdays. And today is Wednesday! (in case you missed it here is last week's post where I introduce my plans. So, I have decided the type of credenza I want beneath our television. Oh and the TV is up. Let me show you-
Marta de la Rica graced the cover of Elle Decor Spain recently with that first photo. She Spanish, young, so cute, and of course, has flawless taste. I just adore that lilac sofa with the two round glass coffee tables and the black and white awning peeking in the background. And what about this blue sofa? I'm currently looking for a lush blue velvet like this one for my living room sofa so of course it was one of the first things I noticed. It looks stunning against those white and black bookcases. That black trim is just genius. What a chic combination. Here are more shots on this apartment.
I adore statement earrings when I go out- for dinners, nights out, parties.....but when it comes to my day-to day earrings I'm a pearls kind of a girl. I may occasionally switch them out here and there but 98% of the time if you see me during the day I will be wearing my simple pearls. Predictable I know but somehow I feel that they brighten up my face and that I look prettier. A few months ago I spotted these amazing pearl earrings on one of Dallas' chicest Ladies, Merry Vose. I had to ask- where are your earrings from? Christian Dior. Little did I know they would become my new obsession. I have never seen earrings that are both classic and edgy at the same time. How can that be? They are not terribly expensive (If I remember correctly around $300), they are light and come in so many color combinations there is one that will suit you perfectly. I can't tell you how cool I feel when I wear my Christian Dior pearls? VERY. I love being able to be both modern and classic. I feel ahead of the fashion curve for sure with these.
Happy Friday! Whoa, what a hectic week in a very good way. I feel like it was crazy but so productive. I adore lighting. It is one of my most favorite things to admire. If you remember I built the Lindsey Adelman DIY design, which I'm in love with, just to have one of her designs in my home seeing as though none of her pieces are within my budget. Sometime ago I also came across this fabulous lighting designer in New York called Michelle James. Her designs are the perfect balance of modern and vintage. She handcrafts her pieces from vintage glass globes which she finds by scouring ebay and flea markets and combines them with more modern brass structures. Her pieces are truly one of a kind, no two are the same. Spectacular right? Here are more photos.

Yesterday was a fun first day of the One Room Challenge. Thank you all for your sweet words of encouragement. I love that you all love my windows. They are so important to us, so it touched my heart deeply that you all appreciated them too. That's why I love about this blogging thing you get to connect with like minded friends. A few fun things on my mind today.
Welcome, welcome!! Today is the first day of the first One Room Challenge of 2014. The One Room Challenge was started by Linda from Calling it Home some years ago where she lines up twenty very talented professional bloggers and designers to redo a room in their home in just six weeks. During these six weeks we will update you on our progress once a week on Wednesdays. This will be my first time participating and I'm just thrilled and honored to be among such talented ladies. So let me tell you about the room I chose to design-
Let me introduce you to the brighter, sweeter and maybe even edgier Mimosa Lane Shop! So many new colors to brighten up your homes for Spring and even new embroideries to keep it interesting. The snake and skull pillows are classics with the grosgrain trim but with an added spunk for our edgier decorating sides. And, of course, we kept the classics as these are the leaders of the pack. All available on my shop now and on Society Social.
I really can't decide which are my favorites. I have to say the metallic fabrics are very cool and novel and the Springy lavender one is so sweet with that velvet trim. Someone snatch one up for a nursery. It would make the cutest baby shower gift.
Also, check back tomorrow as it marks the start of the long-awaited One Room Challenge. Please be sure to stop by so you can read all about the room I'm making over. This will be my first time in the challenge so I'm a bit nervous as there are some very experienced bloggers participating. I'm so excited to follow along these bloggers journeys and be inspired by them. Here are the other blogs who will be participating. Can you believe the company I'm in?
Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly. Happy Tuesday.
